HeLa cells are treated with compounds to induce changes in mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). The MITO-ID membrane potential detection kit is used in combination with automated object-based spot counting to quantitatively assess the depolarization and hyperpolarization of the MMP by determining the number of MMP positive aggregates per cell.
